82 650SJ, couldnt have asked for a better bike

Write about your XS650.:  This was my first bike and when i found this page i wanted to customize it, but i didn’t. instead i got a ex500 ninja (biggest mistake of my life!! do not get one, even if its free) i then sold it and bought my 650 back from my dad.

Since it was winter i striped it all the way down because the electrical was going. threw parts i didn’t need at the local moto salvage yard. everything was sand blasted. i painted everything with rattle-can myself. put it all back together, made my own electrical system, bought club-man bars, and a seat off ebay. made the custom side-mount license plate holder.

The exhaust is from mikesxs.com but i bought that sucker from the salvage yard for $40. Overall it took 2 months from start to finish. and i couldn’t be happier with the end result.

yep thats mine, i moved down from washington and finished it right before i moved.

i took the origional wire harness off and tossed it. i looked in the service manual and wired the charging system first, then the ignition system.

but for a quick drawn up one, take a look at xs650.com they have some good ones on there.
