Write about your XS650.: My Sweet 72 was brought back to life after 22 years in a barn. It was built from a bone stock 1972.

nice!! I have the same sporty tank, but mine won’t fit down on the back bone. did You replace a section of your backbone?

The only thing I did was ground off the old tank mounts from the frame. Left the rest alone. Drilled and tubed the frame for cross bolts.

I did the same, but the front mount is in the middle of the backbone. Love the fish tails.

yes, sorry about that, its been a while. I drilled each side of the frame, to match up with the tabs on the front of the tank and welded in a nut on each side and used 2 short bolts. Glad you like the pipes, local muffler man made the 40 degree bends and adapted each end. 20 bucks

Hey angus I got my tank and banged on the tunned with a ball peen hammer to open up the tunnel enough for a nice tight fit.

Absolutely love the pipes with the upswept fishtails!!! Such a cool classic look. I wanted to do the same on my bike, but between my wife and I we finally agreed on two on one side high and stacked with a small upsweep to both after the seat. Nice lines to your chop!
