I did a cb450 bobber last year. already knew i was going to do an xs this year. found the tank on ebay over a year ago. finally started shopping for a bike last xmas. picked in up in OH in so-so shape in Jan., brought it home and stripped it all down. I then hit it for hours and hours with the grinder and sander.
Welded some brackets for the tank and auto ignition. rattle canned the motor flat and everything else gloss black. shaped the tail out of foam and gave it to a local metal sculptor. replaced the front end w/ a honda drum and forks. didn’t want the disk and wanted to lower it w/o having to slide the forks up thru the triples.
The wheels were built by Woody’s in CO. sourced clip ons, grips, levers, grips, lights, etc. found a battery that just fits in the tail piece. wiring, fueling, etc. and it’s up and running now.

NOT NORMALY MY BAG BUT I’M REALLY DIGG’IN THIS. KEEPING THAT ORIGINAL REAR GRAB HANDLE PIECE ON THE FRAME ACTULLY WORKS ( normaly the first thing to get cut off! and yeah i know its not really a grab handle) GREAT SEAT, GREAT COLOURS, GREAT BIKE!

Wow I’ve seen that cb everywhere the bike is truly a piece of art I asked because I’m working on a cb450 right now, how do you like it? Looks great ( mine will be hardtailed sporty tank the usual but hopefully it will lOok as clean as yours) how do you like the cb vs the xs?

I rarely see xs’s done up cafe style that look right to me but this one is SPOT ON! Only thing I would do is hack off that rear frame loop by the seat. It distracts from that wicked tail section! GREAT JOB!!!

the tank is off of an old aermacchi scooter.
the cb and xs seem way different mostly because of the riding position (seat and bars). u sit on the xs and in the cb. the cb feels quite a bit lighter and has a little more pep but the xs pulls strong and runs really smooth.
