Virgin Mary – The FONG BROS

Denis - This bike is as pure as the driven snow. It’s factory fresh and still looks like the day it was made. Rarely do you see such a concours example of an unchopped xs650. To look at this is like going back in a time machine and placing an order at the Yamaha dealer. If only you could see it in person!

If I were a better photographer, you could see more of the factory perfection I am trying to describe. Then again, maybe it’s my cheap camera?

Very few people realize that toward the end of the xs650 production run, you could order your bike with an “accessory package” that included a 21″ front spool wheel, Wassel gas tank, semi shaved forks, clip on lane splitter bars, 2 – n – 1 exhaust, TC Bros hardtail, Pamco ignition, and Xscharge charging system.

Who even knew these parts were out back then? BONE STOCK!

Haha! pure as the driven snow… Pretty damn cool bike though! Why not let it stay there and let grow some moss on the white walls…?

I thought at first glance that it simply couldn’t be a Fong Bros bike, until I looked closer and saw the factory frame still painted black, bracing the void in the TC Bros hardtail. And of course you still won’t put a rear fender on a bike, lol. But holy rear tire, Batman, that thing has got some booty on it. Loving it as usual, Fongs, keep it up.

What size and where do i get that rear tire???

I was going to, but The Smithsonian made me an offer I could not refuse. I believe it will be on display between the Spirit of St.Louis and the Space Shuttle.

Great looking whip. i love the tank and clip-ons. You guys always build a rad bike. Why do you never use rear fenders?

    • Billy Joe Fong (fongbros) November 8, 2012 at 11:26 am #

I actually make a rear fender for everybike I build, but they never seem to stay out of the parts pile because I think they just look better without them. Not all bikes, just the ones I have made. My first 2 bikes had fenders and eventually, I took them off. I guess it’s just my personal taste for these bikes.

I’m about 385 lbs, will those front forks bottom out on me? Nice scoot by the way. Do you guys have an online shop? I’d be interested in some t-shirts if you carry XXXL

    • Denis November 9, 2012 at 10:27 pm #

Yes, we also sell sweet leopard hats and furry collared jackets because its cold int the GWN. As for the forks, bottom out, no. Fold up like a tent in hurricane Sarah – probably.

Hi Fong Bros. Your bikes are Amazing! pieces of art, also they standout amongst xs650 builders…Simply Unique!
Just pick up a 1980 xs650 roller plus 4 engines, they all have great compression and they are almost complete. Anywhoo….Just got a 21×2.15″ Harley front wheel with Dunlop MH90-21 tire. 3/4″ bearings, hub is just under 5″ wide. wondering if can use this tire on my front forks, do i have change the bearings?
Thank you once more for the heavy inspiration
