Buell XS “Wife Beater”

xs650-chop-noid-IMAG0023

This is a project that has taken me more time than I thought it would, but what a ride! I started the build last year after a friend gave me a ’78 XS and the forks and wheels from a 2006 Buell. He said he had been dreaming of doing something with the two bikes for some time and finally decided to get it done. Easier said…

After the frame from TC Bros. was widened, and custom Jack Shaft, adapter collars for the forks, chopped tank, custom axle, custom sprocket, and lots of little adjustments she almost looks like she’s ready for the road.

I can’t wait to twist the throttle and feel the wind in my face. More on the build at pb.deployedfromdetroit.com

Nice! This is exactly the direction I was thinking of going. I love hauling in the brakes on my Buell and stopping, like, NOW. I’ve got a ’75 XS and a set of Buell wheels, forks and rear brake. Just got to get it all together.

Thanks everyone, first test drive was yesterday. I have a little more work to do! I hoping that this winter will include a tare down and paint. At the moment I just want to ride it!

Thanks everyone, first test drive was yesterday. I have a little more work to do! Carbs need to be tuned up, tank needs a different mounting set up (lots of vibration coming through) and a few tweeks hear and there. I’m hoping that this winter will include a tare down and paint. At the moment I just want to ride it! Again, thanks for the positive feed back.

  13. Yale says:

You want to sell it. Been looking for this combination for long time.

  14. Yale says:

Any interest in selling. Love the bike”

  15. yale says:

how wide is the rear tire/wheel as compare to a standard xs650.

  16. Bolo says:

@Yale, thanks for the interest, makes me feel like I did something right, however, the bike is being built for a friend and so it is not for sale : ( The rear tire is a 180, standard XS tire is 110-130.

  17. Yale says:

On my first build i would love to have a rear tire like the one you have used here. What size tire is that and how hard was it to tie back into the original motor, etc.

  18. Mississippi James says:

Hey man I love this bike!!! Which 2006 buell did all that come off of???

  19. Bolo says:

Buell parts are from a 2006 XB 12 Ss Lightning. Check out the professional photos at http://imgur.com/a/pAkd1

Very good looking bike, brother. I’m always telling my wife how good she looks without makeup. Your gal looks really good without paint. Really good.
