Chop or cafe?

I bought this xs off ebay as non runner, had it re-bored, rebuilt engine, fitted boysen ignition etc . I don’t do stock bikes,so should i chop it or go down the cafe racer route?

    It’s almost cafe’ now…

  2. Bob says:

Well, a seat and some clip-ons will do ya for a cafe racer. Because this bike is in such good shape, I think I’d keep it unmolested and forego the chop. Just my two cents!

  3. Tebo says:

I agree with Bob. Keep your mods to a minimum now, it’s riding season! Start your chop in November. Just remember, a ‘cafe racer’ is going to attract the attention of the crotch rockets, and they’ll eat you alive. But get out there and ride it now!

Its worth more as it sits but chopping it is way cooler….

Café, no doubt about it. Well, scrambler would be fun aswell 🙂

  7. PRATSTYLE says:

I like Chops but agree with others the Cafe is almost there pull the air boxes change the shocks lower the front and the clip ons and your there. And btw that is one clean non runner… keep us updated

  8. Johnny says:

    Too good to chop.

  9. J-C says:

Cafe for sure!!! You are almost there. Clip ons, rearsets from Fast from the past and a nice bump seat would make damn close to a 60’s cafe racer!! Post pics when you are done.

  10. Joe says:

leave it as is! this bike looks spotless! but if you must… cafe

  11. J-Bagz says:

I say cafe! hardtails are becoming a dime a dozen, i am just finishing my chop after a few long years of building and starting to wish i had done a cafe, just for the comfort factor on longer rides. thats the 2 pennies from my pocket

  13. pickles says:

Cafe for sure. She’s already super-clean and looks elegant.

  14. mookie says:

    cafe or brat

  15. Vigo The Carpathian says:

Cafe. Chopping up a bike is this good condition would be a crime.

  16. Sindre says:

Cafe or scrambler,to nice to chop

  17. Bikepilot says:

I’ve done motorcycles my entire life, and I don’t do “stock” either. If this were my bike, I would either leave it alone or do a mild cafe job on it. That way you can put it back to stock if you ever want to. There are too many of these available that are already too far gone to restore, that make great candidates for a chop (which I also love). You could always sell this one and buy two more, one for a chopper and one for a cafe..!

  18. rozz says:

Lucas tail light, ditch the blinkers and throw some drag or clubman bars on it. Too clean to chop.

  19. trent reker says:

it would be obvious if you chopped it, ted. as tadd wrote, it’s almost a cafe already. plus, cafe racers are the trendy thing. that means more free beer and babes.

good luck whatever you do. it will be cool to see either way.

  20. PlugHead says:

Don’t worry about trendy build the one you would rather ride.

  21. Pat says:

I say cafe! bikes to clean to start hacking on it.

  22. Jeroen says:

CHOP IT IN HALF. It,s been this way for to long now,
    time to look cool!!

  23. El Gaucho says:

Cafe. Easy to return it to stock then. This is a nice standard. Chop a special instead.
